David Graham

Lifelong musician, educator

David Graham is a prolific saxophonist, woodwind player, and music educator from Southern New Jersey. David has been making music his entire life, from his first moments singing songs with his parents at home to the many shows and educational experiences that he shares to this day. His playing can be seen and heard in jazz, funk, Bollywood, and contemporary settings around the Philadelphia tristate area; and he can be seen teaching the art of music to students of all ages across parts of the Mid-Atlantic United States. Whether he is introducing young minds to the limitless world of music making in the classroom or inspiring and guiding instrumental students to a level beyond their imagination, David is most in his element when he is teaching the art of music.

David was born and raised in Deptford, New Jersey, where he first found his passion for music making by playing broom guitars to rock songs with his sisters and then transferring that passion and fun to the piano and saxophone. These early experiences, especially those with fellow musicians and teachers, have shaped his passion for performance and his eagerness to share in as many unique musical experiences as possible. In his high school years, David performed with his high school jazz ensemble as the lead alto saxophonist, and he won several soloists awards and even received a full-tuition scholarship to Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. David received his bachelor's degree in music performance at Immaculata University in Malvern, PA, and he received his master's degree in music education at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, PA. David is currently teaching general music and 5th grade chorus in the Cherry Hill NJ school district, and he has been teaching private woodwind lessons for over 6 years.

On top of educating the next generation of passionate and talented musicians, David performs as a freelancing woodwind player. He has performed with musical acts such as Winston Byrd, Carl Cox, Steve Tirpak, Nick Marziani, Matt Cappy, and Peter Frank. He was also a long-time member and arranger for the Southern New Jersey musical group Swing That Cat, and he is the woodwind player for the travelling Bollywood cover band Nishad. David continues to develop his craft as an educator and performing musician with an undying passion, and he looks forward to every opportunity to share his passion and talent with musicians all over the world.
